HEIC Converter

Convert HEIC to JPG or PNG in your browser. Process iPhone photos in batches and download individual images or a ZIP, with no image uploads.

Choose your image to begin.

Ready when you are.

Get started in three steps

  1. Choose up to 10 HEIC or HEIF photos, no larger than 20 MB each or 100 MB in total.
  2. Choose JPG for sharing or PNG for lossless pixel encoding. Adjust JPG quality if required.
  3. Convert the batch, check the previews and download each successful file or the ZIP.

What to expect

One primary still image is exported per file. Photos above 24 megapixels or 8192 pixels per side are rejected. Source metadata, HDR and Live Photo video are not preserved; colours can differ from Apple Photos.

JPG or PNG?

JPG is usually the practical choice for sharing photographs and keeping downloads manageable. Lower JPG quality can make files smaller but can also introduce artefacts. PNG encodes the decoded pixels losslessly and often produces much larger photo files. It does not restore lost detail or preserve all HEIC information.

What happens to photo dates and colours?

The new files do not copy capture dates, location tags or camera metadata. Your operating system may give downloads a new file date. HEIC colour profiles and HDR processing can look different after conversion, so inspect important photos before using them.

Why did a photo fail?

A file may be damaged, use an unsupported HEIC variant, exceed the limits or require more memory than your device has available. Try a smaller batch. Downloads are retained up to 150 MB per batch; ZIP is offered only up to 80 MB. Use a smaller batch if needed. Failed files are reported individually; successful conversions remain downloadable. Cancel & clear stops the current job.

What to do next

Use the Image Resizer if you need fewer pixels, then the JPG Compressor for a smaller sharing copy. Retain the original HEIC for future editing.

HOW IT WORKS

Behind the result

Decode HEIC photos locally, then encode a compatible JPG or PNG. Keep the original HEIC if you need its metadata, HDR information or Live Photo components.

Decode the container

A bundled libheif WebAssembly decoder runs in a separate worker on your device. A fresh worker processes each file and is released afterwards. No source image is sent to a server.

Choose the still image

The decoder selects the primary image when available, otherwise the first decoded image. Auxiliary depth maps and Live Photo video are not exported.

Encode and package

Decoded pixels are drawn onto a canvas. The browser encodes JPG or PNG and successful files are packaged into a local ZIP. PNG encoding is lossless for the resulting pixels, but does not preserve the original HEIC container or colour pipeline.
