Use the Watermark Images tool
- Choose up to 12 photos. The preview shows the first photo in the batch.
- Add a text box or choose a logo. Adjust size, X/Y position and opacity, then use the matching Update button.
- Choose Prepare watermarked downloads. Save each result using its download link.
A photo watermark is visible text or a logo placed over an image. It can identify the creator or show where a picture came from. A useful watermark stays readable without making the photo difficult to view.
How to apply a watermark to photos
- Keep an unmarked original and open a working copy in an editor that supports overlays.
- Add your name as text, or select a logo with a transparent background.
- Scale the mark to suit the photo. Check its appearance at the size people will actually see.
- Position it with a safe margin and adjust opacity for the background.
- Export a flattened copy and inspect the downloaded file.
Text or logo?
Text is quick to change and can include a short website address. A logo gives a consistent visual identity, but a tiny logo with fine lettering can become unreadable. Use a transparent PNG or another supported transparent format when you want the photo to show around the logo.
For a 1200-pixel-wide photo, a watermark around 180 pixels wide is a reasonable starting point to preview, not a universal rule. Increase or decrease it based on the logo detail, image background and final display size.
Choose position and opacity together
A corner watermark is less distracting but may be easy to crop away. A central mark covers more of the subject. Low opacity looks subtle, yet can disappear against a similar background. Test light and dark versions instead of using one preset for every photograph.
Watermarking a batch
Check landscape and portrait photos separately. A fixed pixel width can look inconsistent across different resolutions. Relative sizing and margins can help, but inspect several results from the batch, especially photos with light corners or important details near an edge.
How watermarking works
The editor draws the base photo and then composites the text or logo over it. Opacity controls how much the overlay contributes to the final colour. Export combines the layers into one image. This visible mark is different from embedded copyright or camera metadata.
Does a watermark stop copying?
A watermark provides visible attribution; it is not a guarantee against copying, cropping or alteration. Keep the original and any records you need separately. This guide is about adding a mark, not removing someone else’s attribution.
Apply the watermark before final compression so you can check its lettering and edges in the file you will share.
Quick placement and batch downloads
Choose a preset position and margin, then Apply position to all marks. Anchors are recalculated for each photo. Prepare watermarked downloads provides individual files and a ZIP when more than one image is selected. Check marks on both portrait and landscape images.
