Can I save just one frame?
Yes. Each frame has its own Download PNG link after extraction.
Does it include every frame?
Yes, within the stated limits. The tool exports each stored animation frame in its original order and lists its recorded delay.
Why are extracted files larger?
Every PNG is a complete canvas, whereas the GIF can reuse previous image areas and a limited palette. The ZIP groups the PNGs; it does not guarantee smaller total size.
What are the limits?
One GIF up to 20 MB, 4 megapixels per frame, 4096 px per edge, 300 frames and 60 million total frame pixels. Extracted PNG data must stay below 80 MB.
How extract gif frames works
GIF frames can store only changed areas. The extractor reconstructs complete displayed frames so downloads include the required content from earlier frames.
Decode GIF image data
The decoder reads the canvas, palettes, frame rectangles and graphic-control data. LZW decoding recovers indexed pixels for each stored frame.
Reconstruct displayed frames
Frames are composited in order. Disposal instructions determine whether the previous area is retained, cleared or restored from an earlier canvas snapshot.
Encode full PNG images
Each reconstructed canvas is encoded as PNG in a worker. Numbered filenames keep the source order; the UI reports each recorded frame delay separately.
Package the downloads
PNG blobs are offered individually and collected into a local ZIP. Total output limits protect memory. GIF comments and animation timing are not embedded in the individual PNG files.
